a different approach to south asian weddings

"She brings something new to the South Asian wedding scene that hasn't been done before."

-Sepali Valik, Owner Events by Sep

Storytelling is universal. Love, family, and tradition can be felt and understood across every culture — and South Asian weddings are some of the most vibrant celebrations of them all. My approach to these remarkable ceremonies is rooted in thoughtful, cinematic storytelling. I focus on the environment, the fleeting in-between moments, and the meaningful details so that you can remember your wedding day exactly as it felt.

I bring a fresh perspective to documenting South Asian weddings, blending authentic candid moments with dynamic portraiture. Honoring family, culture, and tradition is always at the core of my work, and I take great care to ensure that every loved one and every ritual is captured beautifully.

Photographing South Asian weddings is some of my favorite work. Because every celebration is unique — from multi-day events with mehndi, sangeet, and baraat to intimate fusion ceremonies — I create custom proposals tailored to your needs, regardless of location.

Not the posed, traditional style you may have seen before — but cinematic, authentic storytelling that honors your culture while feeling fresh, modern, and deeply personal.
FAQ's
What should we expect when it comes to pricing?

I offer set collections for single-day or day-and-a-half coverage, and I also create custom proposals for multi-day South Asian weddings. Your proposal is tailored to the events you’re planning, the number of hours across those days, whether you’d like additional photographers, and if you’d like to include film coverage. Most couples investing in South Asian wedding photography spend between $7,500–$11,000 for multi-day coverage.

Do you have experience with South Asian weddings?

I’ve been photographing South Asian weddings for the past four years, many of them multi-day celebrations. In that time, I’ve documented Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Pakistani, Bengali, and fusion weddings, each with their own traditions and rhythms. I approach these celebrations with patience and respect, knowing that every part of the ceremony carries meaning — even if I don’t always understand the language. My focus is on observing closely and treating every ritual as significant. And yes, sometimes aunties will pull me aside for a photo of their outfits or the priest will pause mid-ceremony so everyone can look at the camera — I’m there to capture those moments too. I also take great care to include extended family and elders in portraits, making sure no one is overlooked. After four years of photographing these weddings, I take great pride in honoring each tradition with both artistry and heart.

Do you offer videography as well?

Yes. I can include a wedding highlight video from my video partner Prathiba Productions (based on availability) as an add-on to your custom proposal. If you’re looking for full videography coverage, I also have trusted teams I can recommend. Many of my couples choose one of these options so their wedding story is preserved in both photographs and moving images — with a photo and video team that’s aligned in approach. Unlike some videographers who treat weddings like a film set, the teams I work with share my style of documenting the day naturally, without turning it into a production.

Can we include 35mm film photography in our coverage?

Film photography is available upon request. For some of my South Asian couples, having their wedding documented on film feels especially meaningful, while for others it’s not a priority — and that’s perfectly okay. Shooting on film is a very intentional process and does carry additional costs for the rolls themselves, developing, and scans. If film photography speaks to you, just let me know — I’d be happy to incorporate it into your custom proposal and create a collection that blends film and digital in a way that feels seamless.

How do you balance candid moments with portraits?

It’s important to capture the traditional, posed family photos — those are heirlooms — but I also prioritize time for structured, editorial-style portraits of the couple. These can happen during a first look, after the ceremony, or even woven into quiet moments between events. Many couples choose to separate their ceremony and reception across two days to maximize portrait time, while others keep everything in one day, which simply means I’m more intentional about making the most of the time we do have. Throughout it all, candid storytelling remains at the heart of my work — I’m constantly capturing the unscripted moments that bring your celebration to life.

South Asian weddings deserve to be photographed with as much heart and artistry as they’re celebrated with. My approach is different — but always rooted in respect for tradition, family, and love.
