One of the greatest joys of being a Wedding Photographer is the ‘bonus’ time I get with my couples either for coffee dates, venue scouts, engagement sessions or, in this case, after the actual wedding day.
You may recognize Conor + Katherine from their incredible Big Sur Elopement earlier this year. The newlyweds wanted to dress in their wedding attire and do another session in the city they fell in love, San Francisco.
San Francisco is an incredibly photogenic and it can always be a challenge to narrow down spots to shoot. The weather can play a big difference in locations since people tend to come out when it’s sunny and the fog always has an agenda of it’s own. It’s by and large one of the greatest cities for wedding photos.
We met in the afternoon at Pier 7, where the couple had their third date. It was a sunny day in the city and felt nice to be around the water. Pier 7 is one of my favorite places to take couples in the early morning since it’s usually really quiet but this afternoon was just as gorgeous. The skyline looking back down the bridge is unmatched to most locations in San Francisco.
After our pier stop, we headed to Crissy field where their dogs Ryder + Pfeiffer [named after their Big Sur wedding, naturally] joined the fun. Katherine and her mother train guide dogs. It was so interesting to hear about the process and some of the dogs they’ve trained over the years. The views of the Golden Gate from the shoreline are particularly lovely here and it was fun to include the dogs.
The sun continued to inch down so we made our way across the bridge for our final stop at Battery Spencer. The old ruins are known for having some of the very best views of the Bridge, and also sometimes it’s one of the windiest places. I always appreciate how this couple is up for an adventure for the sake of art. Katherine kept twirling despite the wind and these images into twilight hour feel quiet romantic.
Another beautiful day with these two, feel free to click on the music + enjoy some of my favorites below:
