I am a girl of simple pleasures. I love the outdoors, fall weather and crops of corn. When I was given the opportunity to capture Noah + Jodi’s fall Wedding in the heartland of Iowa, I couldn’t resist.
When I first spoke with them, they told me about how their story started with a ‘no’. Noah had asked for Jodi’s number after the two met at a concert. When Jodi realized he had friended some of her other friends on snapchat she found herself a bit jealous. She gave the guy a chance.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. They gathered their family and friends at the Franklin Convention Center in Hampton, Iowa where Jodi grew up going to the fair. The fairgrounds have an old main street with old Americana facades leading down to the train station. I loved the variety of barn buildings a structures.
Getting ready with the girls took place in the old church followed by a quick drive to a nearby lake where we did a first look. Noah’s reaction was priceless as little droplets of rain started to come down. The ceremony was outdoors along the old main street, fully decorated for fall. Having a first look is always a tough decision since many couples want that big moment down the aisle. This wedding is proof that both moments can be dramatic and meaningful <3
During cocktail hour, we took the couple out to the corn field. I directed them through a few romantic moments in the dried up stalks. These are some of my very favorite moments of the day. My midwest soul was happy.
The reception took place indoors for dinner, speeches and dancing. The grande finale was a sparkler sendoff back where the day began at the church.
This day was a dream to shoot. Jodi + Noah have so much fun together and I felt so honored to capture this beautiful Midwest wedding day. Hope you enjoy a few of my favorites:
