The East Coast is one of those great places I never get to visit for long enough. My last trip to New York was a dreary long weekend trip to the city for Dan’s Christmas gift.
I was so thrilled to get a message from Laura to shoot her wedding on the other side of the state in Buffalo!
Laura and I met while working Photopass at Disneyland years ago when I first moved to California. We wore very attractive blue shorts and safari beige vests and captured guests in designated spots all around the resort. This gal is crafty! She does needlepoint, decorates cookies, sews bow-ties for men + dogs. Furthermore, she is also a talented photographer [who shoots Leica too!]. I got to learn a little about John, mainly our shared love of horror films.
The couple sized down their farm wedding to an intimate backyard celebration with family and close friends. Laura had a specific vision of greens and neutral tones in decoration. The well-pruned backyard was the perfect setting.
Laura and her bridesmaids got ready at the historic Hotel Henry and we did some bridal portraits later at the Delaware Park. Highlights included having their dog be the ring-bearer, her uncle walking her down the aisle, a surprise rainbow over the dinner reception, dreamy lights after dark on the lawn and having John row Laura around Hoyt Lake for a very ‘The Notebook’-esque moment. Here are some of my favorites:
