Yemi + Patrick do things on their own terms and we could all stand to take notes.
I got to meet these two and hear their story over coffee just a couple weeks before they were going to elope. They wanted to keep things low key and intimate, spreading the whole process out during the month of October. They did an official marriage quietly [in jeans!] with an officiant, elopement photos and a topped it all off with a big honeymoon trip to London + Ireland. The two wanted to have a beautiful series of Wedding Photos done at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. Union Station is one of the best architectural gems in Southern California and it was the perfect setting for the loose travel theme of their wedding portraits.
Yemi had a flowing dress with the most gorgeous bead detail and flowers in her hair. Patrick sported a dinosaur tie with a dashing dark blue suit. We met on the grounds and did a quick swing around the station, mainly staying outdoors in the big courtyards but managed to snap a few inside. Their dog, Lucy, joined in for a few of our shots as well. We continued across the street to the neighborhood at the Plaza of Arts & Culture. If you’ve read any of my other blog posts there is a theme of photographing in historical locations. I really admire the history and adding my couple to the narrative. This little square of Los Angeles is special and I was so happy to capture these two in it to celebrate their wedding.
