Rain on your wedding day is good luck. According to some cultures rain is considered a blessing, representing fertility, cleansing, unity, renewal + tears.
As an artist, I find rain on your wedding day to be a heck of a lot of fun.
I was grateful this bride + groom were up for some ambitious fun in the rain. Michelle was fearless and totally up for portraits while it was pouring. We did getting ready photos of the Hilton Marina in Berkeley before heading up the hill to Tilden Park. We got special permission to do the first look and portraits throughout the Botantical Gardens and took advantage of most of the grounds.
The ceremony had to be pushed to the indoors but the rain let up enough to enjoy the cocktail hour on the patio and a lovely night portrait outside.
I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a couple weddings at the Brazilian Room [including this beautiful Indian Fusion Wedding] but this was the only time I’ve seen the cherry blossom tree at the entrance in full bloom. I’m always a sucker for a good Cherry Blossom and this one took my breath away.
Her most darling details in light blue tones, including some of the most gorgeous heels I have ever seen
