I met these two when Jon proposed to Kristen at El Matador Beach in Malibu. It was an elaborate set-up with the help of his sister, Natalie, complete with tiki lights, some twelve dozen red roses in a heart shape + champagne toasts.
When Jon pitched that they wanted to do an engagement session at Imperial Glamis Sand Dunes, I couldn’t resist. The dunes sit about 230 miles south of Los Angeles, just above the Mexican border. These stretching miles of sand were filming locations for Return of the Jedi and Lawrence of Arabia.
Our visit was a 98 degree October day with one of the most amazing sunsets any of us had seen this year. It was a real journey carrying bags, sharing stories, doing outfit changes and trekking up + down the dunes. My friend Zander [who has cool work of his own] came along and was a great help. In the span of a couple of hours, the sky went through an array of colors, ending with a bright crescent moon sunset.
Adventuring with rad people makes my job the best in the world. I’m lowkey very into electronic music and think this Absofacto is a pretty fun jam to accompany this beautiful love story.
