a french castle with all the proper ingredients of a fairy tale in western france.
this chicago couple gathered their family + dear ones for a weekend destination wedding at the chateau de la flocelliére, just south of cholet. the castle was built as a fortress back to the 11th century with family history that can be traced from 1050. the past + french culture were embraced throughout the day. rooms were filled with charming antiquities, large + small. pups roamed the grounds. the first look took place in the gardens that consisted of a mix of ruins + well kept plants + flowers. the ceremony was complete with a series of readings, personal vows to one another, officiated by the grooms father. dinner was in traditional french style with multiple courses + wine pairings. the room echoed with toasts + laughs + happy fellowship + celebration. a towering dessert with sparklers + macarons + cake was bought out by the chef himself in honour of the bride and groom. dancing carried on through the night in the library.
julia + tom’s love was fun to capture + just beautiful to be around. they actually had no intention of making this a storybook day, but it was. that and much more.
for me it was magic from start to finish. i still can’t really believe i got to shoot this one. as i keep working + building this little photography business of mine i am often given opportunities that i have a difficult time believing are real. this day was one of those instances. take a peek + see if it feels real to you…
