michelle + josh: coastal, cliffside kind of romance in northern california, engagement session

Weddings & Engagement
August 3, 2017

michelle + josh live on the east coast but are getting married in california next year. since michelle’s family still lives in northern california + they are busy traveling back and forth with summer + wedding planning trips they thought it would be perfect to do some photos to celebrate their engagement. i couldn’t have been more thrilled to tag along + get to know this fun-loving duo.

we shot at slide ranch + the muir overlook just north of san francisco. the serenity along the cliffs was so soothing. jokingly we mentioned how i need to photoshop whales in the background. not five minutes later we saw some real ones along the shoreline! we enjoyed chatting + whale watching + television show talk. michelle was super adventurous + hiked all the way down in heels. props.

we had a good time,

they shine.

shot on lilly the leica m240 + canon 5d markiii

nico + frank: classic romance, killer dance moves + thai tea ice cream wedding at the san francisco mint
i love this one for many reasons. shooting in the heart of the bay can be tricky but always has the greatest gems, the mint being one of these. the san francisco mint was built in 1854 to serve the gold rush and is one of the few buildings to survive in the great earthquake of 1906. it actually earned the nickname 'the granite lady'. staircases, man. bridal party fun on steps with ladies in pastel pinks + gentlemen decked out in grey suits. ski-ball, a beautiful first look, thai tea ice cream in lieu of cake, a reception that looked like something out of a summer evening in tuscany, walls in brick, floors in black + white checkered pattern ...

Jeff + Masako: Sunny Marina del Rey Brunch Wedding at the California Yacht Club
Sunshine, brunch line + these two international travelers. It's hard to keep from smiling watching these two bask in an unusually sunny + warm Southern California day in Marina del Rey at the California Yacht Club. These two are adventure seekers + world travelers. They had their formal wedding ceremony in Japan where most of the brides family is from and then had a small western ceremony and brunch when they returned to California where the two reside. We were around yachts so it only felt natural to head down to the docks for some portraits before a small ceremony on the lawn and then inside for brunch and toasts.    ...
