odessa + briana: end of the road retreat destination wedding with a red aframe + a banjo led band + magic galore

Weddings & Engagement
July 11, 2017

where to begin with these two beautiful souls.

odessa + briana are adventure seekers, rollercoaster enthusiasts + nature lovers. they both have an affinity for caring for other people, as well as each other and their two cats. they both share a deep appreciation for yosemite after several camping trips together at bass lake. it just made sense to have their wedding at the end of the retreat in mariposa county for their dear ones to enjoy a full weekend of celebration in this beautiful place.

the sun shined on the red a-frame as birds sang through the trees, camping guests enjoyed the patio + the sound of the lake hummed throughout the secluded nature getaway as getting ready happened throughout the cabin. the ceremony took place outside, overlooking the lake, and was officiated by an old friend of the bride. briana’s emotional first look of odessa coming down the aisle is still sharp in my memory. misty eyes were in good company here. they exchanged their own vows where, unbeknownst to them they both mentioned how they were each others ‘favorite’.

bridal party portraits in the woods among the trees, archery + lawn games, puppies running around, wildflowers colorfully adorning the dinner tent, speeches from loved ones, bbq buffet spread, market lights strung from the cabin peak + a sunset in all gold. we did portraits in the woods + finished the night with most of the guests changing in to casual clothes. the moon came out and everyone gathered to enjoy their friends band that got together after a long hiatus in honor of this union, this day + this love.

one of my favorites ever.

one for the books.

Paris Moments: Enchanting Anniversary Trocadero Stroll along le Rive Seine
From the moment I saw this beautiful brides show-stopping fuchsia number I knew this shoot was going to go down as one of my favorite sessions. Ever. We started out along the stairways up to the famous Trocadero, playing with the lush blossoms and trees that lined the path. These two were celebrating their one year anniversary with a session in Paris. and the morning couldn't have been more lovely.  I can't help but notice when I look at these photos how they made the city come to live. As with most of my sessions in Paris, shooting very early is most always recommended since we basically get the city to ourselves. We played along the s ...

victoria + frank: romantic outdoor vow ceremony with puppies down the aisle at The Barlow in Sebastopol, California
this wedding does it for me, on so many levels. a star/country crossed love between two world travelers that led them to have ceremonies at the San Francisco Courthouse, at the grooms home in Amsterdam + finally in Northern California at The Barlow for their vow ceremony in front of friends and family and pups. Guests flew in from, quite literally, all over the world to celebrate. Victoria and Frank did a traditional tea ceremony in the early afternoon, followed by getting ready for their western part of the days festivities. All of the flowers were put together by the bride and her sisters along with the cute details in the cocktail ho ...

Jon + Stephanie: Desert Stroll, Pups in Tow Engagement Session at Vasquez Rocks
A day in the desert with these two + their two pups. Stephanie + Jonathan wanted to have a real nature feel to their photos, particularly a desert Joshua Tree-esque setting. A place where they could also bring their dogs Indy + Presley. Vasquez Rocks proved to be the perfect spot. We went out on a sunny afternoon and enjoyed the open spaces and dramatic rock formations. The park has been used as a filming location for dozens of movies + tv shows including The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes + The Flintstones. They lightly paraded around with the pups + enjoyed the scenery + quietness of the park as the sun hovered above. ...
