jessa + paul: classic romantic wedding with a dash of hawaiian flare at the newhall mansion, piru, california

Weddings & Engagement
May 22, 2017

this was a day filled with wind, a historical mansion in the california valley + an enchanting couple by the names of jessa + paul.

newhall mansion is the setting, the historical splendor of piru with a truly unique and ornate design outside and in. the bride and groom and their families spent the weekend on the grounds and made home of the whimsically designed rooms, windows + balconies.

they had friends and family travel from all over to enjoy the festivities and to celebrate the love + union of these two.

they opted for a first look which took place out on the balcony, followed by some portraits and bridal party and family shots around the grounds. the ceremony took place on the back lawn with the reception to follow on the side porch that featured an amazing green spiral staircase. the house was the main role in decoration along with some chic + elegant floral details in green + white. other details included seed pockets as takeaway gifts, hawaiian tunes, traditional croatian bread made by the father of the bride, blue suede heels, a man cave and a headpiece for the bride brought over from the island by a childhood friend.

love was abundant + magic was all around.

One of my favorite 'oldie but goodie' movies is Once so I played with the main movie poster since we had the street open in the morning. We were able to utilize the awesome graffiti, signs + urban vibes in the area. It's notable that we all enjoyed vegan pancakes afterwards ...

Oceanside by Your Side: Capitola Engagement Session
Shooting in brand new places is always a thrill. This couple wanted to do their engagement session in Capitola by the ocean and enjoy the spring weather. So in.   This location was great because it had some pretty distinctively different locations. We found a train tussle, the pier and the gorgeous beach with the famous colorful condos on the edge. Jasmín was just infectious and they were both so much fun to shoot.
