nick + rachel: an enchanting day of their own making at the barlow, sebastopol, ca

Weddings & Engagement
April 7, 2017

Some people are visionaries by nature.

This is certainly true of ultra aesthetic bride Rachel + her kind spirited groom, Nick, who planned their eclectic + stylish day at The Barlow in Sebastopol.

This is the third wedding I’ve shot at the Barlow (Jade + Andy, Lillia + Robert) and this bride really took off with her vision as far as creating a space where dear ones felt welcomed in and also could feel surrounded by her bold artistic influence. The tables where adorned in geometric shapes, succulent variations + potted plants. I loved the subtle details of silverware in different shades + the tables numbers marked on tile pieces. She also had her dress specially made for her out of designer upholstery fabric and was decked out in all kinds of asymmetrical jewels + gems with a overflowing bouquet of greens + protea.

And I haven’t even gotten to their insane craziness for each other. I remember shooting their engagement session in Half Moon Bay + having so much fun because they were having fun with each other. They simmered + shined. It was beautiful.

I could try to put it into more words but I have photos, let’s try that instead…

Most of these images were shot on #lillytheleica (m240).

Hollywood Glam + The Stage: Theater Wedding in Lake Merritt
This bride and groom pair were true children of the theater and as a theater major I felt right at home. First look photos were insanely dramatic on the empty stage with the gorgeous deep red curtains. For the bridal party photos we first did a cast photo from A Chorus Line, naturally, and then swung out the piano for a song and dance number. It was SUCH fun. The look of the venue paired perfectly with the vintage heirlooms the bride used including her great grandmothers necklace. This pair looked like they walked straight out of an old Hollywood Film. I loved sharing their day and witnesses their love story.

Burning Man Inspired Fire Garden Engagement Session
This shoot was particularly special since it was the first shoot ever in the Fire Garden in Bonsall, California. They had so many fun pieces to play with- my favorite being the broken pianos. This gorgeous bride had some mad hula-hoop skills as well. The two are very involved in the Burning Man Community and treasure their friends and experiences there. It was perfect to be in an environment conducive to their interest! This was a good time and a great love story.

ben + sabine: all smiles in all the places: venice beach, canals + abbott kinney engagement session
Where to start with these two... I loved our meeting and the zest of life and energy they both have. We laughed. ALOT. They chose awesome areas for their engagement session in the Venice area. We started by the ocean, naturally, for sunrise and then continued through some awesome beachside homes, unto the Venice canals and eventually ended up on the famous Abbott Kinney street! It was fun to play with colors + angles + urban landscapes. Ben + Sabine were magic together. Let me show you... Shot mostly on Lilly (#lillytheleica) with a 24mm + 50mm Summilux f/1.4 I shoot engagements, destination weddings + ...
